A prerequisite of the program is that the building be as efficient as the minimum requirements stipulated in ASHRAE 90.1-1999, 2004. The design can earn credits by proving that it is more efficient than the equivalient ASHRAE 90.1 whole building performance baseline. The more a design exceeds the ASHRAE 90.1 minimally compliant building, the more points the design earns.
