EMO can provide detailed daylight simulations (Lumen Designer 2004) highlighting several alternative design strategies and their associated daylight levels, daylight factor, daylight penetration, and relative shading for any hour and day of the year.  In addition, EMO will make recommendations regarding light levels for different space types. Effective strategies employed by EMO include, but are not limited to the following:

Building Envelope: orientation, interior surface reflectance, horizontal illuminance, etc.

Top Daylighting: skylights, sawtooths, clerestories, tubular daylighting devices, etc.

Side Daylighting: interior and exterior spectrally selective or diffuse light shelfs, solar shading devices, kalwalls, etc.

Glazing Specifications: visible light transmittance, shading coefficients, U-value, vision vs. daylight, etc.
