RCG Architects contracted EMO for sustainable design assistance and energy modeling services for the New School of Nursing located on the campus of Villanova University.
Now known as Driscoll Hall, the new 72,000 sf facility is the first LEED certified building on the campus.
specific results:
The project earned 12 of 14 possible Site Selection points. The site preserves and restores open space and habitat, mitigates and improves the quality and quantity of stormwater on-site, and provides transportation strategies that reduce dependence on automobile use. Water use is reduced by more than 20% indoors, while plants and landscaping was chosen that require no irrigation. HVAC equipment and other systems will result in over 22% energy savings, and 100% of all energy-related carbon production will be offset by purchasing power from green production sources. 85% of construction waste was recycled, and over 22% of new material used in the building is recycled. Over 75% of wood used in the project comes from sustainably managed forests.
